Update: Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Simpsonville Wreck

Victim reportedly died after colliding with car involved in an earlier wreck on I-385.

Update: Coroner Mike Ellis identified the victim that died in a crash Tuesday night on I-385 in Simpsonville as 70-year-old Anthony L. Crusco of Greenville, who struck an already wrecked vehicle, Simpsonville Police said.

According to Lt. Kevin Threlkeld, Simpsonville Police, Simpsonville Fire Dept., and EMS responded to a traffic accident at approx. 9:28 p.m. The driver of a Dodge Stratus was attempting to merge onto I-385 north from West Georgia Rd. and made contact with a Lincoln MKX. The Dodge was pulled to the side of the road. The Lincoln became disabled in a lane of traffic. The driver of the Lincoln turned on the emergency flashers and exited to get out of traffic. As the drivers were assessing damages and injury, the Lincoln was struck in the rear by a Volvo station wagon.

Crusco, the driver of the Volvo, was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:18 p.m. Threlkeld said CruscoΒ was returning home from business in Wilmington, N.C. when the crash occurred.

The Greenville County Sheriffs Office was requested to assist with the accident reconstruction. The investigation is ongoing, said Threlkeld.

Original story: Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle wreck early Wednesday morning that killed an unidentified person, Fox Carolina reported.

The wreck reportedly happened shortly after midnight on I-385 northbound at West Georgia Road
