Hillcrest Faces Irmo in 4A Upper State Championship
Hillcrest seeks a shot at the state title, but it must first go through the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.
The Hillcrest Rams will face off tonight against the Irmo Yellow Jackets for the Class 4A Upper State championship.
The top-ranked Yellow Jackets had a huge win over Hillcrest in the second round of playoffs last year. Irmo beat Hillcrest, 73-59, before losing to Gaffney by one point in the quarterfinals.
Irmo is undefeated this season with 27 wins.
The Yellow Jackets will have to contend with a second-ranked Hillcrest squad led by 4A Player of the Year Tre Smith, who led his team to a three-point win Wednesday night at home against the Spring Valley Vikings, 68-65.
The game starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.
