Obituary: Bertha Parker of Simpsonville

Bertha Young Parker, 86, widow of Dave B. Parker, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

Mrs. Parker was born December 19, 1926 in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to the late Byron O. Young and Nevella Pearl Conners Young. She was a co-owner and operator of Ritter Hot Springs Company and a member of the Mauldin Church of Christ.

Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Diana and Charles Manley, Rita and Vern Nelson, and Mary and Blaine Meyers; a sister, Julia King; twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Dave Parker; three brothers, Tom Kos, Michael Kos, and Olaf Kos; and four sisters, Opal House, Jessie Wright, Bessie Vincent, and Frances Riley.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Mauldin Church of Christ, officiated by Rev. Dennis Strine. Burial will be 12 noon Friday at Beaufort National Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service.
