Obituary: Rafael Ruiz

Rafael Ruiz, 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 6, 2013. 

Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of Jenny Ruiz and the late Rafael Ruiz, Sr. He wore many hats throughout his career, from shoe salesman to shipping and receiving coordinator, then spent the last 15 years of his career at Agilysys in Taylors as their facilities manager. However, most would probably give him the title of "evangelist" because it was his mission to spread the gospel of God's redeeming grace to everyone he came across - whether that be in the grocery store, on the basketball court or in a homeless shelter. He loved sharing the Word and will forever be remembered for his humility and appreciation of the ultimate sacrifice of God's one and only son.

In addition to his 87 year old mother (Jenny), Ralph is survived by the former Mrs. Elena Ruiz; two sons Ruben Ruiz (Stacy) of Greenville, SC and Nicholas Ruiz (Cathy) of Taylors, SC; a daughter, Venesa Reyes (Jerome) of Hartsville, SC; 8 grandchildren (Taylor, Aurie, Vince, Justin, Zuri, Jasmine, Naomi and Zane); 3 sisters - Midge Rivera (Joe) of Simpsonville, SC, Iris Figueroa (Nelson) of Clermont, Florida, and Lydia Ruiz of Fort Lee, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Cannon Memorial Park in Fountain Inn, SC at 2:00 pm, with visitation prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm.
