Police: Simpsonville Man Faces Criminal Domestic Violence Charge
A spat over his wife and young daughter's night out turns physical, police report says.

A Simpsonville man faces a criminal domestic charge after a spat with his wife turned physical, a Simpsonville Police report said.
Oliver Sams, 36, was charged with the crime after he allegedly got into a argument with his wife, then slapped her keys and food out of her hands before grabbing her and pushing her over a couch and into a wall, the report said. Though the woman complained of aches from being pushed over the couch, she was not visibly injured from the confrontation, the report said.
Sams claimed he became upset when his wife took their daughter out on a school night for a prayer meeting when the child should have been in bed instead. He admitted to slapping the keys and food out of her hand, but claimed that when the fight became physical he merely grabbed her and they both fell over the couch, the report said.
The only visible injury from the confrontation was a bruised toe on Sam's foot when he kicked a wall in his bare feet, the report said.
The wife pleaded with officers not to arrest her husband, but after conferring with a judge police arrested Sam's and was taken to the county detention center where he was later released on a $3,500 bond.
