Police: Simpsonville Woman Harassed by Creepy Caller
Police finally get caller to relent after threat of criminal prosecution, incident report says.

A 20-year-old Simpsonville woman claims in a Simpsonville Police report that she was routinely harassed by telephone by an unknown man posing as a Michelin recruiter and asking for photos of her before police were finally able to reach the man and make him stop with a threat of criminal prosecution.
The woman said the harassment began when she returned home one day recently to find a note in her door with the man's first name, "Jimmy," and his phone number. Not knowing who the man was or why he left the note, the woman nonetheless called back and left a message, the report said.
That's when the barrage of phone calls began.
"Jimmy" called at least a half-dozen times after the woman left the message. When told not to call her anymore or she would contact police, Jimmy nonetheless called her several more times, the report said.
The woman said "Jimmy" claimed he worked for Michelin and was trying to recruit her for a job, despite the fact she knows no one who works there and did not know why the man would want to recruit her, the report said.
She said things got really "odd" when "Jimmy" began asking her for a full-length photo of herself and asked to meet her face-to-face at her apartment, the report said.
"She stated at that time she then hung up the phone, because she thought 'something was wrong,'" the report stated.
Police called the number left by the man and left a message to call back. Once he finally did, police warned him to cease any further calls or else they would file criminal charges, the report said. That seemed to do the trick. "Jimmy" said he would stop calling, and had no intention of going to the woman's apartment, the report said. No criminal charges have been filed.
