Simpsonville Man Faces Criminal Domestic Violence Charge

Cedric Reeder alleged to have choked girlfriend during a fight.

A Simpsonville man is facing charges after he allegedly choked his girlfriend during a violent argument at her apartment, according to a Simpsonville Police incident report.

Police responded to the woman's apartment at The Arbors on Cedar Donne Circle last week to find the woman crying heavily and pleading with police to put her live-in boyfriend in jail, the report said. Police noted they found marks and bruising on the 23-year-old victims neck.

The victim told police that her boyfriend, 28-year-old Cedric Reeder, had started a fight with her after she told him she planned to take her child on a field trip.

The victim said Reeder demanded she stay home and took her keys. When the victim attempted to retrieve them, the argument turned violent, she said in the report.

Reeder allegedly pushed the victim down on the bed "and proceeded to choke her with both hands not permitting her to breathe," the report stated. The victim was eventually able to free herself and flee to a neighbor's apartment after she pushed at his faced and kicked him, the report said. Reeder then left before police could arrive.

While police were still with the victim, Reeder called the victim on her cell phone. After police talked with Reeder, the suspect agreed to turn himself in without incident.

Reeder was later arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence-simple assault and booked into the Greenville County Detention Center where he has since been released on bond.
