Things To Do This Week in Simpsonville & The Golden Strip

From pre-schoolers to senior citizens, there's plenty of things to occupy your time this week in Simpsonville and the Golden Strip. Here's a sampling.

Maria Tinti conducts a free aerobics class from 5-6:30 p.m. Mondays in Building 2 at the Center for Community Services, 1102 Howard Drive, Simpsonville. Contact Janine Sutter at 864-688-2246.

Rose disease prevention and which roses are the best to plant in the area will be discussed by the Mauldin Garden Club at 7 p.m. April 8 at the Mauldin Cultural Center, 101 E. Butler Road. All are welcome. Email club President Ann Smith at jerryannsm115@frontier.com or visit MauldinGardenClub.org.

The Rosettes Line Dance Group teaches and practices recreational line dancing as an accessible, fun, low-impact fitness, and community activity for people of any ability ages 50 and older. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays at the Simpsonville Activity and Senior Center, 310 W. Curtis St., Simpsonville. Activities start at 10 a.m. Beginners start at 9 a.m. Call 864-967-9533.

Silver Chair fitness classes for seniors are held at 10:45 a.m. Tuesdays at Mauldin Sports Center, Butler Road, next to the Mauldin Cultural Center. Participants must have a walking pass; wheelchairs are welcome. The Chair Yoga will follow the Silver Chair fitness class. Call 864-335-4875.

Stories, rhymes, music and bouncing games for babies ages 1-18 months will start at 10 a.m. April 9, at the Hendricks Branch Library, 626 N.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Call 864-527-9248.

Mary Signmann will present β€œClearing the Office Clutter” at 11:30 a.m. April 9 at the History Center, 102 Depot St., Fountain Inn.

The Scribblers Writing Group will meet at 7 p.m. April 9 at the Hendricks Branch Library, 626 N.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Call 864-963-9031.

Rhymes, rhythm and fun for babies ages 1-24 months with adult caregivers will be offered at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. April 10, at the Hendricks Branch Library, 626 N.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Call 864-527-9248.

Preschool children are invited to Story Time at 10:30 a.m. April 10 at the Kerry Ann Younts Culp Library, 311 N. Main St., Fountain Inn. Call 864-527-9248. Story time will also start at 10:30 a.m. April 8, at the W. Jack Greer Branch Library, 800 W. Butler Road in Mauldin. Call 864-527-9248.

Fountain Inn will host the International Festival from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. April 13 with food, live entertainment and carnival rides ($1 per ticket, $12 all-day pass). A 20-mile bike race will begin at noon from the Farmers Market Pavilion on Depot Street and will tour all the industrial businesses in Fountain Inn along with a 5-mile scenic route through the country. The cost is $25. A Family Fun Bike Ride begins at 10 a.m. that will tour Fountain Inn parks. The cost is $5 or $20 max per family. Residents with confidential paperwork they need shredded are invited to a Community Shred-It from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. April 13 in the BI-LO parking lot, 1103 N. Main St., Fountain Inn. Paper must be bagged or boxed; the limit is three tall kitchen bags or three copy-paper boxes. The event is sponsored by Golden Strip Emergency Relief and Resources Agency, Shred-It Greenville, BI-LO and Keep Greenville County Beautiful.
