Bennett Sworn in for SC Senate 38 Seat

After a primary battle and a court battle, Sen. Sean Bennett heads to Columbia.

Sen. Sean Bennett has been sworn in as S.C. Senator for District 38 during a Monday evening ceremony at Summerville Town Hall.

Bennett scored a decisive win against incumbent Sen. Mike Rose in the GOP primary in June only to be caught up in a Democratic-led lawsuit against his party questioning his and other non-incumbent candidates' legitimacy just a few weeks later.

While the judge ruled Bennett had filed correctly, despite missing a crucial document, his GOP rival Rose didn't give up the fight and appealed the decision to the S.C. Supreme Court. But Rose's appeal was struck down.
