Coroner Calls Bodies Found An Apparent Murder-Suicide

Bert Francis Pages died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after authorities say he shot his mother.

A 30-year-old Summerville man found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Friday morning has been fingered in the death of his 61-year-old mother, who was found dead Thursday night, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.

Nisbet called the incident an apparent murder-suicide.Β 

"It is unclear at this time, why this murder-suicide happened and is still under investigation by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office," Nisbet said in a statement.Β

The bodies were found at two locations. Lynda Craver Pages was found shot in the head in her Ashborough East home. Neighbors reported hearing a "loud boom" Wednesday night. She died of a single gunshot wound to the head, Nisbet said in a statement.

Bert Francis Pages was found Friday morning and had died Thursday night in the Chili's parking lot on Dorchester Road. An autopsy is scheduled for his body later.

The woman's other son, Jonathan Pages, was the person who discovered her body. He had come over for dinner with his mother and a neighbor.Β
