Who Won the First Presidential Debate?
Dorchester County Democrats ask, 'Where's the Meat, Mitt?'
The atmosphere was jovial and the outcome of Wednesday's presidential debate — at least for the voters gathered at the Dorchester County Democratic Party headquarters — was expected.
If you were at the office on West 2nd North Street, President Barack Obama trounced his Republican opponent former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, even before the debate started.
After the debate, Democrats said Romney provided little detail on his proposals, while Obama was understandable.Â

"I didn't get any meat," Karen Hudson complained of Romney after the debate. "He was strong in putting out no message."
"Romney was on his heels the whole time," County Democratic Party Chair Richard Hayes said. "I expected more."

Praise was high for the incumbent.
"I loved how he had his facts together and takes his time before he speaks," Ethel Campbell said.Â
But even though the outcome was expected in a room full of decided voters, there were a few surprises.
"What surprised me was how Romney was very animated and machine-like in his presentation," Hudson said.Â
Local Democratic blogger Rob Groce was also surprised to find common ground with the governor.
"He said one thing that I agree with: I like Big Bird too," Groce said.
