Dorchester Co. Identifies Inmate Found Dead on Thanksgiving

A Goose Creek man incarcerated at the Dorchester County Detention Center was found hanging in his cell on Thursday

The inmate found hanging in his cell Thursday at the Dorchester County Detention Center has been identified as Scott Kuykendall, 34 of Goose Creek, according to a statement from Dorchester County Coroner's Chris Nisbet.

Kuykendall's body was found hanging in his cell Thursday morning. A Coroner's statement says the hanging occurred around 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012. The statement refers to it as an "apparent self hanging," but the Coroner's Office has not yet officially ruled whether the death was suicide.

"I will be conducting a forensic autopsy to determine cause of death," Nisbet wrote in the emailed statement.
