Dozen Shoplifters Caught at Walmart in Two Days

Police say increase in prevention officers helps nab shoplifters.

Skinny jeans, baby food, beer, ice cream and a trash can full of nearly $1,000 in merchandise were some of the items taken by would-be shoplifters during a two-day loss prevention blitz at Walmart on North Main Street.

A dozen incidents were reported. 

"They had a several loss prevention officrs working those days, that might explain why they had so many," Summerville Police PIO Capt. Jon Rogers said. "They just had a lot of loss prevention folks working those days."

Those caught were put on trespass notice and not arrested, according to incident reports.

  • $27 in baby clothes
  • $20 phone charger
  • Gerber Gentle baby food
  • Toddler jeans and skinny jeans
  • $52 in groceries, including beer, ice cream, cake and sandwich meat
  • $83 in DVDs
  • $426 in merchandise, including women's clothing and DVDs
  • Coloring books
  • $216 stereo equipment
  • Four cases of beer and two cans of camp fuel
  • Dog bones, sunglasses and wall hooks
  • $935 in merchandise concealed in a plastic garbage can
