The North Summerville community will gather this Saturday night for a candlelight vigil in memory of John Elliot Hancock.
The two-hour “Stop the Violence” event starts at 7 p.m. at Wassamassaw Community Park (651 Wassamassaw Rd. in Summerville).
Organizers are Hancock’s mother Jewaldine Hancock and family, along with community activist and former Coastal Center director Louis L. Smith.
Along with various speakers from this area, four gospel choirs will be present, as well.
Candles will be provided by the organizers.
