Family of 3 Displaced by Summerville Fire

Fire destroys family's home off of Butternut Road.

American Red Cross volunteers were called Wednesday morning to assist a Summerville family of three, including one child, whose home was destroyedΒ by an afternoon home fire.

The fire happened at 124 Trickle Drive. The Old Fort Fire Department responded.

The Red Cross provided the family with funds to help replace the food and clothing lost in the fire as well as comfort kits and referrals to Red Cross partner agencies.

The Red Cross has assisted 546 individuals affected by disasters, including home fires, in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties, since July 1 of this year.
