Family of 9 Affected by Summerville Fire
Lowcountry Red Cross provides assistance to family after Monday afternoon fire.

Press release, Lowcountry Red Cross:
American Red Cross volunteers were called this afternoon to assist a Summerville family of nine which included six adults and three children. Their single family home suffered minor damage from a late afternoon fire. Â
The Old Fort Fire Department responded to the fire at 159 Shady Lane, off of Dorchester Road.

The Red Cross provided the family with temporary housing, funds to replace food and clothing, referrals to partnering agencies, as well as comfort kits containing personal hygiene items and toys for the children.Â
Lowcountry Red Cross has assisted 391 individuals affected by disasters, including home fires, in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties, since July 1 of this year.
