Final Reading on East Edisto Master Plan Slated for Monday

Dorchester County Council meets 7 p.m. Monday in St. George.

Dorchester County Council will meet for a public hearing and final reading on the East Edisto Development Agreement 7 p.m. Monday at the St. George chambers.

Final reading is also expected on the development's master plan.

East Edisto is a 50-year planned development by MeadWestvaco. In 2008, MeadWestvaco created the master plan for East Edisto, which rests on thousands of acres near the Edisto River, its namesake. The large tract covers Dorchester and Charleston counties, residing in the districts of three councilmen: George Bailey, Willie Davis and Jay Byars.

Monday's meeting will be preceded by Planning Commission at 3 p.m., Parks and Recreation Commission at 5:30 p.m., Water and Sewer Committee at 6:30 p.m. and the Budget, Finance and Purchasing Committee at 6:45 p.m. in St. George.
