Gunshot Victim Alive and Doing OK

MUSC has 'no information' on the woman shot five times by husband last weekend.

The woman who survived an attempted murder-suicide by her husband Saturday is "doing OK" as of Wednesday morning, according to a neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous.

The neighbor and her husband were watching football in their garage at Tranquill Hill in Oakbrook when Penny Lynn Mims ran across the street and collapsed in their driveway Saturday night, she said. They called 911.

Dorchester County deputies arrived to find Mims conscious and suffering two gunshot wounds to the head, two to the chest and one to the arm. The incident report says she fingered her husband and she was taken to MUSC for treatment. Her husband, Michael E. Mims, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the home at Tranquil Hill in Oakbrook. Click here to read more.
