James Randall Carpenter Charged with Murder

Suspect was allegedly covered in blood upon arrest.

Summerville Police have arrested and charged James Randall Carpenter with murder in connection to the body found Sunday morning at the Shell gas station near I-26.

He has been booked through Berkeley County Detention Center. Bond has not been set, and the hearing will take place 7 p.m. Monday.

"He's got some history in the area," Capt. Jon Rogers told Patch, but could not confirm what type of history Carpenter has had.

Authorities arrived to the gas station Sunday morning and detained Carpenter after he appeared intoxicated and police discovered he had out-of-state warrants. After noticing blood on his clothing, police allegedly found the body of Jasmine Marrone of Tennessee in the back seat of his vehicle.
