Man Charged with Attempted Murder
Summerville Police allege Maurice Ramell Gregg tried to light his girlfriend's residence on fire.

A man out on bond for a burglary charge has now been charged with attempted murder, according to Summerville Police.
Maurice Ramell Gregg, 21, of Summerville was arrested for a July 28 incident where Summerville Fire and Police observed burnmarks to a residence off Wassamassaw Road.
The victim of the crime stated she observed her ex-boyfriend (Gregg) attempt to burn clothing on the back porch, according to the incident report. The victim's sister was able to put the fire out with a hose.Â

Police discovered Gregg at his residence on Richardson Avenue where he said he was sleeping. But, according to the incident report, Gregg's shoes were wet and had fresh grass on them.
According to the report, Gregg was charged with attempted murder because at the time he allegedly burnt the clothes on the porch he knew the residence was occupied.

Gregg was arrested at the Wassamassaw residence the day before for an unrelated charge, and he fled to the nearby woods where he was apprehended. The burglary charge he is currently out on bond for was filed in June.Â
