Deputies: Man Likely Injured in Meth Manufacturing

Dorchester County deputies report a man taken to the hospital after allegedly being injured while manufacturing methamphetamine.

A Summerville man is in the hospital after suffering burns allegedly from manufacturing methamphetamine Wednesday morning.

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office incident report, Summerville Police reported a man who came into Summerville Medical Center's ER with burns consistent with an accident from manufacturing the illegal drug. 

The incident allegedly happened at an abandoned building on Embassy Drive. Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Maj. John Garrison said deputies did visit the location and found "items consistent with manufacturing of meth."

The man, identified in the report as James Miles, allegedly came to his girlfriend's house on Orangeburg Road complaining of a burn on his arm, according to the report. Deputies were unable to obtain a statement from Miles due to him being heavily sedated, according to the report.
