McElveen Donates Truck to Red Cross

Lowcountry Red Cross truck to be used during hurricane season and other disasters.

The American Red Cross announced this week that, once again, McElveen Truckville of Summervile is a Red Cross partner in preparedness.

McElveen Truckville donated a truck to be used by the Red Cross throughout the hurricane season and other disasters.

"Red Cross response efforts begin well before the land fall of a hurricane and having the truck available to pre-position our disaster trailers will help us effectively respond to the emergency needs of our neighbors,” said Louise Welch Williams, regional CEO of the American Red Cross.

The truck will also allow the Red Cross to pull the trailers which are filled with immediate emergency supplies to shelters that open in response to multiple-unit apartment fires, hazardous materials spills, tornadoes, earthquakes or other local disasters.

“We are happy to partner with the Red Cross in their effort to provide emergency disaster assistance to the members of our community," said Gray McElveen, sales manager of McElveen Truckville.
