Meet the Candidate: Chris Murphy

Rep. Chris Murphy will ask voters to bring him to his second term this November.

The Republican representative is running unopposed for S.C. House District 98. He was first elected to office in 2010.

Here is more information about Murphy:

• Residence: North Charleston
• Education: Bachelor of the Arts from The Citadel, Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law
• Military service: S.C. National Guard until 1990 (Honorable discharge)
• Previous political service: Past chairman of Dorchester County Council for District 2 (2003-2010)
• Philanthropy: Founding member of the Summerville Miracle Leage; active in Summerville Rotary Club; and volunteer and sponsor for YMCA, Parks Field and Sertoma teams
• Awards: Recipient of the 2012 S.C. Chamber of Commerce Business Advocate Award, 2012 BIPEC Champion of Free Enterprise Award, and 2012 Peas and Carrots Legislative Award by the Citizens for Sound Conservation. 
• Family: Wife the Honorable Maité Murphy, two sons Austin and Jackson
