"I want to see accountability in our county government, and I want to see fiscal responsibility on our council."

He's staking his campaign around a central issue: county take-home vehicles and gas expenditures, recently addressed by council. He called it a microcosm of the county's fiscal irresponsibility.

"I don't think council is keeping track of our funds," Goodman said, adding that he has spoken with counties across the nation on best solutions.

Goodman is a former police officer with the City of Charleston. In the last few years, he has owned Hometeam Inspections in Summerville. He is affiliated with Summerville 9-12, and attends meetings with the Concerned Citizens of Dorchester County. He calls himself a "very strong fiscal conservative."
