Midnight Quake Rocks Summerville

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake rumbled along the Middleton fault Monday evening.

A small earthquake shuddered along the Middleton fault just before midnight Monday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports a 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck just at 11:53 p.m. Monday across the street from the Walmart shopping center on Dorchester Road, near the Ashley River.

According to Michigan Tech, quakes about 2.5 magnitude are often felt but rarely cause damage. 

The last earthquake reported in Summerville was . A 2.5 quake rattled the Upstate on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. That quake was along a different fault line.
