Nearly $3,000 Raised in Dorchester County Council Race
With fewer donors, incumbent Councilman Bill Hearn raises more than twice as much as opponent Miriam Birdsong for reelection to District 6.
Dorchester County Councilman Bill Hearn has raised $2,150 in his bid for a second term to represent District 6, according to S.C. Ethics data from April 27 until Oct. 27 for the Nov. 6 filing period.
His opponent Miriam Birdsong, seeking the seat as a petition candidate but active with the Democratic party, has raised $712.
District 6 includes parts of the town of Summerville and extends up to Orangeburg Road.Â

Hearn has had six donations, only one coming from a personal donation ($50). The rest have come from companies and a PAC. The Realtor Political Action Committee donated Hearn's largest single donation of $1,000. Birdsong has had seven donations, none coming outside of individuals and none exceeding $250.
