New Federal Law Sparked by Summerville Student

RJ Sloke almost got lost in the foster care system; new law will help agencies access students' educational records.

A former Summerville High student is the posterchild of a new federal, bipartisan law aimed at helping children in foster care finish their education, The Post and Courier reported.

In foster care, Sloke attended Summerville High six years ago. At the time, Sloke had been in more than 12 different foster care facilities and had even been homeless. He metΒ Summerville High teacherΒ Karen Parker.
