Newington Elementary Students Recognized for Great PASS Scores

Students dubbed part of NES's 'royal court.'

Friday, the students and staff at Newington Elementary School celebrated the EXCELLENT school report card earned by the school for the 3rd consecutive year. The results of the school’s 2012 PASS scores,indicate that Newington is a school of excellence. During the celebration held this morning, Principal Cammy Groome shared with the student body and parents gathered in the media center that 298 of theschool’s 3rd-5th graders scored exemplary in one or more areas on last year’s assessment. In addition, 30 students were recognized as the school’s Royal Court, Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses of PASS, for having scored either the highest score in an area of the test or for scoring perfect scores. Former 5th graders were invited back to the school to participate in the celebration and to receive recognition along with the current 4th and 5th graders being honored. Following the introduction of the Royal Court, a school parade of all students with exemplary scores was held while classrooms lined the hallways to dance and high-five the Excellent Leaders. In addition, classroom lessons and activities for the day were centered around the theme of EXCELLENCE. Newington Elementary School appreciates the excellent team effort of our students, staff, and parents, and the support of our Excellent School District!
