Summerville Town Council met Monday for its regular finance committee meeting, which convenes with the entire council.

Here are the actions taken:

  • Council unanimously authorized to award bid and issue purchase order to RSC Equipment Rental in the amount of $15,751 for a scissor lift to be paid from budget capital.
  • Council unanimously voted to approve the town's investment policy.
  • Council unanimously voted to explore possibly subdividing and selling the house known as the Berry house, adding some of the property to the existing Azalea Park.
  • Council unanimously voted to move forward with creation of a skateboard park near Spann Elementary. This location would make it easy for law enforcement, according to Police Chief Bruce Owens. It would cost $2,500 per year in insurance. Initial cost estimates are $25,000, with parents and skateboarders raising 20 percent of that figure.
  • Council unanimously voted to declare a surplus and authorize the sale of nine police vehicles.
