Single-Vehicle Wreck Kills Driver

A Dorchester County woman has died after a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday night near the intersection of highways 78 and 27.

Debra R. Ross, 45, died of blunt force trauma to the chest at the scene of the accident, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet. According to his statement, her vehicle left the roadway without braking and hit a drain culvert. Ross was wearing her seat belt.

Nisbet reported her family said Ross has fallen asleep at the wheel in the past.
