Police: Shannon Caruso Found Safe, Healthy

Missing woman contacted law enforcement over the weekend.

The Goose Creek Police Department confirmed Tuesday morning that Shannon Caruso, the 29-year-old mother reported missing last month, was found healthy in North Carolina.

Shannon Caruso was reported missing on Aug. 19. She hadn't been seen since noon Aug. 17. Her disappearance prompted friends to create a Facebook page to help with the search.

Caruso contacted Goose Creek Police on Monday afternoon to tell them she was not missing and not in danger, as her mother had feared when she first filed the report.

Friends and family had feared for Caruso's safety because her boyfriend, Kenon Stevens of Summerville, is wanted on charges of criminal domestic violence high and aggravated nature and kidnapping for an alleged attack on Caruso in early August

Investigators said Friday that they believed Caruso was in North Carolina because of a message left on her father's voicemail, but they were in the process of verifying the location.
