Rape of Teen Reported at Sawmill Branch Canal
Sexual assault reportedly occurred Wednesday on Summerville recreation trail.

Summerville Police are investigating a rape of a 17-year-old girl at Sawmill Branch Canal, according to WISTV.com.
The incident occurred Wednesday near the SCE&G power station on the trail, which runs under Bacons Bridge Road. The victim was running on the trail and the suspect allegedly hit her with a bike. She was punched and held at knife point, WISTV.com reported.

On Wednesday afternoon, authorities received information that a 17-year-old girl, with blood coming from her face, was seen running naked on the trail and across Bacons Bridge Road.

Investigators describe the suspect as a white male, between 16 and 18 years old, 5'7", 180 pounds having curly dark brown hair and last seen riding a black bike.
A sketch of the suspect is expected to be released Friday.
