Rezoning Delayed for Lot Near Indian Springs
Dorchester County Council delays second reading of changing lot from residential to office/industrial zoning, which would allow multi-family units.

Dorchester County Council will decide the zoning fate of nearly five acres near Indian Springs on Boone Hill Road during their November meetings in Summerville.
The lot has become a bone of contention among its owner and nearby residents, as those bending the ear of council have opposed the owner's desire to seek a zoning change that would allow the possibility of multi-family apartments.
Council had previously tabled the second reading of a rezoning for the lot until Monday's meeting in St. George but, in a 6-0 vote, decided to table the reading again so that the last two possible readings would be held in Summerville and give time for notices to nearby residents. Councilman George Bailey was absent from Monday's meeting.

Scheduled for second reading Monday, the councilmen began discussion of the rezone but two citizens, speaking out of turn, interrupted them. The citizens voiced that they opposed the rezoning, and council members reminded them the time for public comment session was over. Council then chose to table the reading.Â
