Rose Appeals Bennett's Candidacy to SC Supreme Court
S.C. District 38 GOP nominee won't get respite before going into Aug. 15 certification deadline.

S.C. Senate District 38 GOP nominee Sean Bennett had little more than 24 hours, , to be the uncontested candidate going into the November election.
But his Republican primary opponent and incumbent for the seat Sen. Mike Rose filed an appeal Friday that alleges Bennett did not follow S.C. election law when filing.
Within the motion to appeal, there is a motion to expedite since the deadline for candidates to be certified for the November ballot is noon Aug. 15.Â

Rose and Bennett filed motions to intervene in the recently concluded Dorchester County Democratic Party v. Dorchester County Republican Party et al, and were both listed as defendants.

Rose's appeal alleges Bennett did not simultaneously file his Statement of Economic Interest with his Statement of Intention of Candidacy, and did not file for the correct year.
"How pathetic is that?" Bennett said to the Journal Scene Friday.

Rose would not comment on the appeal, stating he will comment once the matter is settled.Â
