Second-Grade Teacher Vies for Mrs. U.S.

Jillian Marie Stratton, originally of Lexington and now a teacher in North Charleston, goes on to compete for title of Mrs. United States.

NORTH CHARLESTON — Lexington native and Dorchester County School District Two teacher Jillian Marie Stratton will represent South Carolina this year in Las Vegas, vying for title of Mrs. United States, according to The State.

Mrs. United States — described as "the premier pageant for married women" on its website — is scheduled in July.

Stratton is no stranger to the sash. She was born in Lexington, and first competed in pageants while attending Lexington High School. Stratton was a first runner-up at the Miss Teen South Carolina pageant, was crowned the Miss Lexington County Peach Festival in 2005 and served on the court of the Batesburg-Leesville Poultry Festival and reigned as Miss Prosperity.

Stratton teaches second grade, according to her profile on Eagle Nest's website. According to The State, she is active in anti-bullying campaigns.
