Social Media Response to School Lockdown

Two Dorchester County schools were on a precautionary and brief lockdown Wednesday as Summerville Police investigated an incident in nearby Somerset Apartments. During the incident and after, students, faculty and observers of the lockdown used Twitter and Facebook to talk about the incident.

One tweet says parents weren't notified until two hours after the incident. Earlier this week, Patch reported on a parent looking to upgrade the parent link notification system.

The official Summerville High web page updated with incident information two hours after the incident. 

The district has a policy against using cell phones, but none regarding social media for students.
