Students Design 13-Foot Sculpture at Oakbrook Elementary
S.C. Arts Commission grant gives Oakbrook Elementary students an artist-in-residence.

Oakbrook Elementary School teachers Mackenzie Clark and Marie Connelly received a $20,000 grant from the S.C. Arts Commission. The grant funded Charlotte-based sculptor Bob Doster to work as an artist-in-residence with fourth-grade students at the school.
Two students, Jackson Salinas and Zoe Baker, created a design of a 13-foot tall stainless steel Palmetto tree to be placed in front of the school. The completed sculpture based on the students’ design has been placed in front of Oakbrook Elementary School for all to enjoy.
