Summerville Company Saves Incandescents
Energy law mandates light bulb manufacturers increase efficiency by 25 percent, leading to a phase out of incandescents nationwide.

A Summerville light bulb company refuses to let the incandescent light bulb go the way of the horse and buggy — or perhaps the way of 6-mile-per-gallon vehicles — according to The State.
Instead of finding new light in compact flourescent light bulbs, AAMSCO is using state legislation to continue manufacturing a more efficient 100-watt bulb.
The 2007 Bush-era law mandated light bulb manufacturers increase light bulb efficiency by 25 percent went into effect Monday, according to the Island Packet.

The State reported:
In reaction, South Carolina this year passed its own law regulating production of the 100-watt-ers, dubbed The Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act, making it legal to produce and sell the bulbs in South Carolina, as a function of intrastate commerce.

The company's candescent light bulbs are a "commercial-grade incandescent light bulb that is sturdier on the outside and contains non-hazardous materials on the inside, meeting new regulations and besting existing incandescents," The State reported.
The bulbs are only sold online at the www.AAMSCO.com website.
The Alinea Incandescent is marketed as having a light of more than 2,000 hours and "radiates a soft warm light especially flattering to skin tones," according to the company.Â
