Summerville Man Indicted in Myrtle Beach Rape
Grand jury indicts Brandon Gregory Southerland on September rape charge.

A Myrtle Beach grand jury has indicted a Summerville man fingered for a September rape in Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach Online reported.
Gregory Southerland, 28, was arrested in March for criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping. Wednesday's indictment is a formal accusation of the crime, and does not indicate conviction.Â

In a police report, the victim told Myrtle Beach officers she and Southerland had fallen asleep on the beach and they woke up about 2 a.m. that day. The woman said they went back to an apartment and when she tried to leave Southerland forced himself on her.
The woman was able to escape and went to the police department for help.

J. Reuben Long Detention Center's jail records shows Southerland is still in jail under a $75,000 bond for criminal sexual conduct first degree and a $75,000 bond for kidnapping. Southerland was sentenced already for failure to appear with no bond set.
