If for some reason a patient’s personal physician is not available, or if the patient does not have a physician, the OB/GYN hospitalist will evaluate the progress of the patient’s labor to provide a safe, healthy delivery, or will assess her gynecologic condition as appropriate.
OB/GYN hospitalists are active members of the Summerville Medical Center medical staff and communicate directly with key medical personnel in the hospital, including medical and surgical consultants, discharge planners, social workers, clergy, and others. This communication is essential to ensure a positive, safe and comfortable experience throughout the patient’s delivery process.
