Summerville Shooting Sparks Vigil Against Violence
Hundreds gather at Wassamassaw Park to remember John Elliot Hancock.
Still reeling from the violent death of a Robynwyn resident earlier this month, the Summerville community held a candlelight vigil to remember the victim and speak out against violence.Â
Police are still investigating the shooting death of John Elliot Hancock, who was shot to death outside his home. Dozens of shells were found at the scene. No motive has been offered in the crime.Â
Church leaders, political leaders, a police spokesman and other addressed the crowd Saturday night, asking parents to look after their children and encouraging families combat drug and gang activity by staying involved.
