Teens Break Into Alston Middle — Twice

The silent alarms at alerted authorities not once but twice in one week as teenagers found a way into the school's gymnasium.

Nothing was damaged and it appears the teenagers wanted to take their outside basketball game indoors and out of the scorching summer sun.

"I'm assuming they found an unsecured door, for whatever reason, and thought 'Hey let's play basketball inside,'" Dorchester Two Security Coordinator Mike Turner said.

Turner said it was one of the first school break-ins of the summer. 

"Anytime you got a building and you have kids out for summer, they like to be on the campuses," Turner said, adding that the first week in July was "just one of those weeks" where it happens not only once but twice.

While Turner said there were no arrests and charges, he added that breaking and entering is a serious crime that the teenagers need to be aware of.

"Any time you break into somebody else's property, you are violating the law," Turner said. "But I could not find any damage that was done ... These crimes are crimes of opportunity and they just found an opportunity and exploring it."
