Town Seeking to Fill Boards, Commissions

Mayor and Town Council accepting applications for vacancies.

Mayor Bill Collins and Summerville Town Council are accepting application to fill vacancies on several boards and commissions now through 5 p.m. Sept. 21.

Here are the vacancies:

  • Board of Architectural Review (two seats; one arts community and two at-large/historic district)
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee (five seats)
  • Commercial Design Review Board (two seats; one at-large and one landscaper)
  • Construction and Code Board of Appeals (three seats; one alternate and two at-large)
  • Municipal Election Commission (one seat)
  • State Accommodations Tax Advisory (one seat; hospitality)
  • Planning Commission (four seats)
  • Zoning Board of Appeals (one seat)

To serve on a board or commission, you must be a resident or own real property in the town or appointed by a unanimous vote of council.

The positions require someone who has demonstrated civic interest, general knowledge of the community, independent judgment and availability to prepare for and attend meetings.
