Two Charged in Alleged Summerville Hotel Meth Lab

Christopher M. Meehan and Crystal L. Kowalski charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Summerville Police have charged the two arrested in connection to an alleged methamphetamine manufacturing lab inside Holiday Inn Express.

Crystal L. Kowalski, 30, of Ladson and Christopher M. Meehan, 26, of Florida face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine. Kowalski has also been charged with identity fraud, financial transaction card fraud, possession of financial transaction card forgery device and financial number theft.

Police arrested the pair early Monday morning after they attempted to purchase goods at Walgreens on North Main Street. In their possession was a key card to Holiday Inn Express. .

A meth lab has also been discovered at nearby Economy Inn in June.

Summerville Police say cooking the dangerous drug, which led to three Goose Creek deaths earlier this year, this isn't a rampant problem at area hotels.

"They need a place to cook it," Capt. Jon Rogers said. "We don't get a lot of (meth labs in hotels) ... It's just one of those things you come across."
