U.S. Marshals Arrest One After Brief Standoff

Michael D. Smith arrested after allegedly refusing to comply with U.S. Marshals for 20 minutes in Richardson Avenue home.

A brief stand-off ensued in Lincolnville Thursday morning.

U.S. Marshals, Charleston County Sheriff's deputies and Lincolnville Police responded to a residence 10 a.m. Thursday at 510 E. Richardson Ave. in reference to a man wanted for five charges.

Michael D. "Rambo" Smith, 23, allegedly refused to comply with law enforcement for nearly 20 minutes before he was taken into custody.

Smith is wanted criminal domestic violence, criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, failure to stop for blue lights, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

He was taken to Al Cannon Detention Center and will have a bond hearing 2 p.m. Friday.

According to the incident report, Smith allegedly delayed coming to the door to comply with law enforcement demands for 20 minutes, but was eventually arrested after he surrendered.
