What Should Go Here? Sweetwater Grill

Sweetwater Grill closed down last month and now this downtown restaurant space is available.

It was the end of more than a decade of decadent pancakes and delicious French toast when Sweetwater Grill and Cafe closed last month.

The restaurant space at the corner of South Main Street and Railroad Avenue now sits empty.

Restaurant owner Chris Bauer cited lease cost and downturn in business in the economy as reasons for closing the doors, and said Sweetwater will likely not open up another Summerville location for the time being.

"We had a good business, but we did not have enough business to support the rent," Bauer said.

Bauer's restaurants elsewhere will remain open.

At one time, 26 people were employed by the cafe. Before closing, it employed 18. However, Bauer said only one former employee is on unemployment — the rest all found other jobs.
