According to Yes4Schools committee chair Brian Mitchum, the signs are valued at $50 each and volunteers had spent hours putting them up around the county. Signs were reported destroyed or taken sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning. A report was filed with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
"They know better," Mitchum said. "But, it's cheaper for them to tear ours up than to put out their own."

Mitchum said those perpetrating the act are likely against the referendum.
Committee volunteer Brian Moniz said this won't dispirit the campaign.
"This is going to drive us to work harder to get our message out," Moniz said. "I want people to know what (the alleged vandals) are doing. The general population doesn't take too kindly to this sort of thing."
So far, the campaign has spent about $5,000 of donated money on signs around the county, Mitchum reported. Click here to read more about donations to the Yes4Schools campaign.
