Additional Charges Pending in Deadly Greer Standoff

Greenville County Sheriff's deputies have charged a Simpsonville man in connection with an Oct. 14 incident on Skyland Drive.
Shane Kelly Young, 30, of 3028 Fork Shoals Road, Simpsonville, has been charged with burglary — first degree.
Deputies said more charges are pending in the standoff at 4307 Skyland Drive that left one person dead and five others, including two deputies, injured Sunday.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Barry Wright identified the man found dead inside the home on Skyland Drive as 49-year-old Kenneth Darrell Horton, of Greer.
A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said the two deputies are continuing to recover. A deputy who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm was expected to be released from Greenville Memorial Tuesday afternoon. The second deputy who was shot in the leg is expected to be moved to a room within the hospital on Tuesday.
