ORIGINALLY REPORTED FEB. 10
Investigators are now trying to find out whether a third robbery at a local convenience store might be the latest in a string of connected incidents.
On Thursday night, an unidentified black male armed with a gun robbed a Citgo gas station at 2020 North Pleasantburg Drive at the intersection of Rutherford Road near Taylors.
The robbery occurred at roughly 7:40 p.m., just hours after the Greenville County Sheriff's Office from a Jan. 29 robbery at the same location, in hopes of identifying the suspect. According to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, a black male wearing a blue bandana over his face brandished a weapon and robbed the store before fleeing. The same unidentified man also is suspected in a robbery of The Garden Spot at 3 Altamont Road at 8:45 p.m. the same night.
There also have been three armed robberies at Citgo on Pleasantburg . Jennings Autrey of the GCSO said it is unusual for a single location to be targeted so frequently and in such a short period of time, and that investigators are looking into the possibility that three robberies are connected, Autrey said.
Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office are requesting that anyone with information or knowledge of this incident, suspect or the jacket contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
