BBB Offers Free Commercial Shredding During Shred Day, Oct. 19

Shred Day events will be held in Greenville and Anderson

As part of a national program to create awareness for identity theft and protection, the Better Business Bureau of the Upstate will host Shred Day events on Saturday, October 19 in Anderson and Greenville. During the event, consumers and businesses will be able to shred documents as well as recycle computer equipment and cell phones.

Shred up to 10 small banker boxes per vehicle.

Goodwill® Industries will be on-site to recycle computer equipment. Accepted equipment includes: Computer monitors, printers and hard drives in any condition. Computer hard drives will be wiped by Goodwill according to the standards developed by the U.S. Department of Defense.

At both locations, BBB will also collect used wireless phones, batteries and accessories for HopeLine®, a domestic violence prevention and awareness program sponsored by Verizon Wireless. All phones donated to HopeLine will be scrubbed of data and then refurbished to support domestic violence victims and survivors.
